What is the story you are inviting people into?

Our potential members are searching. They are searching for a connection, a place to belong, and something meaningful. So what is the story your website, social media, or meeting is telling your potential new members?
Many websites talk about the organization, history, products or services, etc. They present themselves as the hero of the story. They need to flip the script. How can they focus on the people they want to join? How can they show how they can meet their needs for connection and community?
The story that you are inviting people into needs to be clear and inspiring. It also needs to be apart of the organization. By this I mean, you can't have a flashy website that promises fun and adventure, and then people show up to a boring meeting with 5 people. The Hero's Journey needs to go beyond your marketing, and inform the structure of your organization.
Your organization is really the container for the story. Every meeting or event, trainings and activities, communications and content should be enforcing the story of your organization and helping your members to grow and transform.
So take a step back and look at your organization from an outsider's point of view. What are they seeing and experiencing when they come into contact with your group?
